Joe Tizzard: I hope he will take all the beating here

Trainer and Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard discusses the chances of his three runners at Taunton and Newbury on Saturday.

Taunton 1.35 – Furkash

Furkash has run at Taunton on three previous occasions and been placed every time, so we know he goes well here. He’s one of those horses who is generally so consistent he always run well, and therefore the handicapper never seems to give him a chance, and he then always bumps into one or two improving types. I’m sure he’ll run his usual solid race again here, and one of these days he’ll get his head in front.

Newbury 2.25 – Striking A Pose

Striking A Pose is having his second run after a wind op, and you could see him last time realising that he could breathe better, and that really helped him run all the way to the line. This is a horse who was rated in the 130s not that long ago, and if we’ve sorted his breathing, he could be well-handicapped, and if so, and he can build on his last run, he’d have an each-way chance in what does look a competitive and open race.

Taunton 3.20 – Pedley Wood

The owners have been very patient with this fellow, and I hope now they can reap the rewards. He’s another who had some work done on his wind over the summer, and so it was very pleasing to see him make a winning debut over fences at Hereford last month.

He went up four pounds for that win, which I don’t think was unfair, he should enjoy it around Taunton, and if he can jump as well as he did last time, I hope he will take a bit of beating here.
