Killer Kane was third in this race 12 months ago, off a mark three pounds higher than this time, and on ground that was soft enough, if not quite as testing as it might be this year. It just didn’t work for him at Cheltenham, there was a false start and then on the restart he just got pushed back and missed the break, and was always struggling to catch up.
That third place finish in the race last year is the key piece of form for him, he’s a solid 130s rated horse, and he clearly loved the National fences, so I can see him having an each-way chance. We’ve had this race in mind for a while, but weren’t sure he’d get in, so when enough dropped out for him to make the cut, we were delighted. He’s one to look forward to
