Saturday - Goodwood 2.00 – Bright Thunder

I’ve not ridden this filly before, but she has some decent 3-y-o form to her name, including a listed win in France, and she’s had a run this season, finishing fifth in a Group 3 at the Curragh last month. We’re drawn well in stall 4, I’ve enjoyed success riding for Karl Burke before, and his horses are in good form, so I hope she will run well

Goodwood 3.20 – Loraxed

Loraxed is making his debut, so didn’t run as a 2-y-o for whatever reason. I don’t know much about him but it’s his first day at school so hopefully can learn plenty and improve for the experience.

Coral New Offer

Goodwood 3.55 – Mutaawid

This fellow is a brother to the top class Mostahdaf, so it’s fair to say he hasn’t quite reached the heights that one did, at least not yet! He won at Kempton last summer, but then went off the boil in two runs that followed.

He’s been gelded over the winter, which should help him, and he’s been working nicely at home. He’s s horse with plenty of ability, so if he shows that on the track, we’ve a lot to look forward to, and I’m excited to see him back in action.

Goodwood 5.05 – Huscal

Huscal won a two of his three starts as a 2-y-o, and should improve for his reappearance run at Newbury last month. That was over seven furlongs, as is this, and he should appreciate that trip, so if that Newbury run has blown away the cobwebs, he should go well for me.

Sunday - Newmarket 1.45 – Falakeyah

Falakeyah won really nicely on her only start as a 2-y-o, pulling well clear of her rivals in a Wolverhampton maiden last November. The form of that win isn’t anything special, but she was in a different league to the rest. I’ve ridden her in work this spring, and she’s definitely a lovely filly, but this is a big step up, so we’ll find out plenty more about her.

Racing Super Series

She has an entry in the Oaks, this race is over a mile and a quarter, and she does have a lot of speed, so I’ll try to get her settled, and get her to see out this trip, as she’ll need to if she’s going to get the mile and a half of the Oaks. She’ll need to win this if Epsom is a realistic aim, but we like her a lot, and we’ll know plenty more after this race.

Newmarket 3.35, 1,000 Guineas – Elwateen

Elwateen is a beautifully bred Shadwell filly, who won her only start last year nicely, under Kevin Stott. She’ll run in the Shadwell silks, but is trained by Saeed bin Suroor, who has won the race three times, most recently with Mawj two years ago.

I haven’t sat on her at home, but she’s working well, and although this is a big step up in class, Saeed knows exactly what it takes to win this, she’s bred to get the mile well, so at a big price, I hope she could have an each-way chance.
