Coral ambassador Jim Crowley previews his two rides on the second day of Royal Ascot 2022, with Rebel Territory running in the Royal Hunt Cup for trainer Amanda Perrett who won the race as recently as 2017 with Zhui Feng.

5.00 Royal Ascot – Rebel Territory

Rebel Territory is a decent horse and he won very well last time out last month at Sandown. I think he is the right horse for the Hunt Cup.

The draw doesn’t concern me much. He is a horse who likes to go forward anyway and the draw makes things more different for horses who like to be held up as you can be left following the wrong horses. Rebel Territory loves to go forward and get on with it so I’m not worried about the draw.

My only concern is the ground and I think he might be better with some give under foot but in fairness to the horse we have never really tried him on quick ground so it just a question mark. If he handles the ground, he will have a great chance.

5.35 Royal Ascot – Finn Russell

Finn Russell ran really well last time out at Musselburgh, finishing third but beaten by under two lengths. He was a little unlucky that day and the winner, Cathy Come Home, looked a very smart horse who will likely run here later in the week.

If he takes a step forward from that debut run then he has the ability to run a big race here and we will have a good shout of being involved at the finish.
