Coral ambassador previews his Saturday rides
He is a nice horse who is owned by a good friend of mine. I have won him twice before, the latest being at Haydock at the back end of last year. It is a competitive race this so we are not without a chance.
My horses likes soft ground so if there is any rain around, it will help him. He is stepping back up in trip. I didn’t ride him at Newmarket last time where he didn’t enjoy the good-to-firm ground. Ian Williams also has The Grand Visir in the race but I think my horse could run well at a big price.
Khaadem was disappointing in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot where he just never got in the race. He is a smart sprinter who we think a lot of. I have been down to the yard and ridden him and he has done some nice work. W
e won this race last year with Yafta who had a similar profile to this colt. He obviously has The Tin Man to beat but he is not ground dependent so even if the ground does end up on the soft side, we won’t be concerned. I am hopeful of a big run from him.
Richard Fahey’s horse, Ventura Rebel, is going to be hard to beat here on form but a lot of people are taking their chance in the race.
We have a bit of making up to do but Keith Dalglish is a great trainer and hopefully Clay Regazzoni will have improved on what he has shown so far and pinch some prize money somewhere.
I haven’t sat on this horse as it isn’t a Hamdan Al Maktoum runner. Brian Meehan is more than capable of getting one ready to win first time out so it wouldn’t be the biggest shock in the world if he was successful.
He was a smart two-year-old with some good form in France. He has just gone off the boil a bit recently so he needs to pull his finger out and show something off this latest handicap mark.
