Coral ambassador on his Sunday rides at Newbury

13.40 Newbury – Mujbar

He has a lovely pedigree. He is a half-brother to Massat who I won the Hungerford stakes on and Eqtidaar who I won the Commonwealth Cup on. He has been going nicely at home and we are hopeful of a decent run.

I don’t know much about Alkumait. I know Marcus has some nice horses this season and he is one of them. However, I was always going to ride Mujbar given his pedigree and how he’s been working at home.

14.15 Newbury – Shabaaby

He ran a nice race up at Newcastle. He won nicely at Haydock last season but then had a long time off. That win was back in May 2019.

He has just had the one run this year. He has plenty of ability and has been working nicely at home, so I think he has got a really good chance. He has very low mileage and it would be nice if he could string a few races together.

15.25 Newbury – Faylaq

I love this horse. I’ve been keen to drop him back in trip for quite a while. He’s won twice over a mile and a half but he was very keen last time at Newmarket.

He pulled my arms out. He’s a horse I like a lot and he is out of an Arc winner in Danedream. He’s bred to stay but I just feel that he’s showing a lot more speed than his pedigree suggests. So I’m hoping this drop back to 10f suits him. I think he has a really good chance. He is a decent horse.

16.00 Newbury – Reshoun

He prefers a bit of cut in the ground but he will go on this ground. He ran very well at Newmarket but it was just on the short side form him, as it was 1m6f that day. He needs two miles and he has got that here. So the trip will suit him.

16.30 Newbury – Alemagna

She was having her first start of the season at Sandown. She was slowly away, hung left with me up the straight and wasn’t really going anywhere until the final furlong when the leaders came back to use because they’d gone hard up front.

I like her. She will come forward plenty for that run. It’s only a small field which will suit her too. I’m hopeful of a big run from her.

17.00 Newbury – Top Secret

He has some nice form. He looks progressive and ran well last time out at Chester. He looks to have a decent chance and will hopefully run well. That said, given his name, I shouldn’t really say anything.
