Jim Crowley: This race should really suit Revich
Published:Jockey and Coral ambassador Jim Crowley discusses the chances of his three rides at Glorious Goodwood on Friday.
He ran very well at Royal Ascot, finishing fourth in the Ascot Stakes over 2m 4f, so he stays well. Unfortunately, he was disappointing in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle last time out. It was almost too bad to be true, so I am happy to put a line through that run.
On his Ascot form, he should be thereabouts here, so I am hopeful of a big performance from him.
This race should really suit Revich, who loves a bit of cut in the ground. He ran very well in this race last year. The draw in stall one is perfect for him as he likes to be in amongst them all. If we can get the splits at the right time, he is good enough to take advantage.
He ran well last time at Sandown in the Coral Challenge, finishing fourth in a big field. He was a little unlucky it was not even better for him as he was denied a clear run in the closing stages of that contest. I am sure he will run another good race here.
He has some good form in Sweden, winning the Stockholm Cup and then finishing third in a Listed race. It is hard to weigh up their form compared to ours. He looks up against it on ratings, but you can’t rule him out.
Hamish is going to be hard to beat in this race. He was back to his best in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester and then at York last time out. This is over a shorter trip, but he is very comfortable with this distance.
