3.40 – El Burhan
He had an excellent novice campaign with wins coming at Yarmouth and Beverley. His last run came in a nursery at Glorious Goodwood where he was third of 16 runners. That was another solid performance as he was not far away from the winner on his handicap debut.
I am excited for this horse to make his seasonal reappearance as I believe there will be much more to come. We have been handed an excellent draw in stall one, which is very important at Chester. If he gets the splits at the right time, I think he should go on to win.
4.10 – Siempre Arturo
This horse was victorious five times last year, so he has shot up the ratings. We were very disappointed with him at Pontefract last time, but I don’t think he suited the track. The ground was also on the quick side for him.
This looks like a competitive contest, but if he can bounce back from his last run, I still think he is capable off this mark of 90.
4.45 – Motawaared
This is a big step up in distance from 1m to 1m4½f for Motawaared. I think this horse’s ideal trip is 1m2f. We will learn more about him here. There is some stamina on his dam’s side. From stall eight, I will probably take my time on him and ride him to stay on at the business end of the race.
