We look over the best of Saturday’s ITV Racing card

The ITV Racing cameras are heading out on the road again in full force to cover the best of Saturday’s race cards from Ascot, Haydock and Newmarket.

We’ve got seven races being broadcast live on our screens to enjoy, including the Rose of Lancaster Stakes from Haydock, and the Sweet Solera at Newmarket.

Ahead of this weekend’s action, we’ve picked the likely challengers in Saturday’s key races.

Ascot

13:50 ITV Home of Terrestrial Racing Handicap

14:25 Shergar Cup Celebration Handicap

15:00 Millennium Millionaire Handicap

15:35 Thames Hospice Handicap

Haydock

14:05 Dick Hern Stakes (Listed)

14:40 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (Group 3)

Newmarket

15:20 Sweet Solera Stakes (Group 3)

14:05 Haydock

Veracious heads into the Dick Hern Stakes as the likely one to beat. The mare performed well throughout 2019, winning the Falmouth Stakes and coming a decent fourth in the Queen Elizabeth II at Ascot. First run after nine months off following wind surgery but remains the form pick.

Winning the 1m handicap at Newbury three weeks ago, Festive Star posted a career best performance. She’s come up in grade for this run but holds as claims as an each-way pick.

The much respected Farzeen runs here too, with the two-time winner in 2019 returning to the course in good form after finishing second from 10 in the Valiant Fillies’ Stakes at Ascot.

14:40 Haydock

Since joining the Gosden yard, Global Giant has performed well, laying claims to his bold name. Won in a listed event at Newbury over this trip with Frankie Dettori on board three weeks ago. Has gone back up a grade here but still has strong claims.

Extra Elusive has a reputation as a smart runner, running well near his best. Beaten by a length by Global Giant at Newbury after a keen start but could go well again here.

At York three weeks ago, Certain Lad just lost out by a length in the John Smith’s Cup running as well as ever. He’s a dual course winner and could get himself involved with the front runners again here.

15:20 Newmarket

After creating a good impression when landing a gamble on debut in the Newbury Fillies’ Maiden, Fly Miss Helen heads the field here and could yet have more to give. She was quick on debut and 7f should suit her well.

Setarhe looks to be a progressive filly who was beaten by six lengths after going off as the favourite in the Albany. That was off the back of a debut win, and she was closely matched with Dubai Fountain in her last run at Sandown. She should go well here.

Danilova produced a very professional showing when winning over course and distance in the Fillies’ Novice Stakes just a week ago. She still had plenty in hand that day too, and we could see more from her here.
