A possible European switch included
It’s becoming increasingly likely that Daniel Sturridge will be exiting Liverpool – possibly in January.
The England international is reportedly unhappy at Anfield and wants away from Merseyside.
Sturridge has endured an uneasy relationship with Jurgen Klopp since the German’s arrival. And was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Southampton.
He may well need a move to secure his place in the England squad for this summer’s World Cup.
The Coral News Team suggests four destinations that may well give Sturridge a new lease of life.
Everton
A switch to the blue half of Merseyside would be viewed as a step-down. However, the Blues are in dire need of a quality front-man to replace Romelu Lukaku.
The two strikers are entirely different, but with a plethora of playmakers, Sturridge would fit the bill at Goodison Park.
His clever movement would lend a different dimension to the Toffees’ attack.
Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino has done a remarkable job at Spurs but his team is arguably too reliant on Harry Kane to win titles.
The addition of a forward like Sturridge would give the Argentine much-needed variation in his attack. But more importantly, there would be no dilution in its quality.
Sturridge would probably have to settle for a rotational place but would certainly get plenty of game-time.
Newcastle United
If there’s one club who adore their strikers, it’s the St. James’ Park outfit. A move to the North East would be ideal for Sturridge.
He would play under a top coach in Rafa Benitez and would be guaranteed a start up-top when fit.
With Newcastle currently up for sale, fresh investment in January is unlikely. However, five to 10 goals for the Magpies would probably secure his England place.
Monaco
If there was one England international that would suit a move to a foreign league, it would be Sturridge.
His skill and movement would suit a continental-style side. Stevan Jovetic has failed to make the grade on the French Riviera and may need to be replaced.
With the Liverpool forward’s ability to play at nine or ten, a move to the Stade Louis II would be perfect. Especially considering Leonardo Jardim’s attacking style of play.
