Ballycash and Ascot De Bruyere among tips for Huntingdon and Sedgefield

Coral horse racing experts give their Huntingdon bets for November 8 and Sedgefield tips for the jumps action this Tuesday.
Huntingdon bets: Ballycash odds weighted to strike on handicap debut
Ballycash odds look decent value to provide in-form trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies with another winner in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle on today’s card at at Huntingdon (15:20).
The gelding was a point winner in Ireland and also ran well in that sphere when a keeping on 7 3/4 length fifth of 13 to Born Survivor in a race at Ballymena that has thrown-up a host of subsequent hurdle winners.
Born Survivor is a very highly regarded sort, who has won twice since to be rated 142 and the runner-up Some Are Lucky is now rated 125.
The third home, Fionn Mac Cul, has scored twice since to be rated 128 as has the fourth and now 134-rated Chef D’oeuvre.
That is very strong form indeed, and Ballycash shaped with promise on his second start after joining Twiston-Davies when third in a bumper at Doncaster.
Although the five-year-old has failed to trouble the judge in three subsequent starts over hurdles, he has not been knocked about and looks a potential improver now going down the handicap route.
An opening mark of 102 could well be on the lenient side, judged on his point form. Unlike the majority of his rivals, Ballycash remains lightly-raced and open to further progress.
Prussian Eagle wort a punt
In the 2m handicap hurdle (14.20), Prussian Eagle is a fascinating contender on his first start for trainer Evan Williams and looks worth a wager at the odds on offer.
The five-year-old had some useful form when in the care of Charles O’Brien, including when a a 4 1/4 length third to Petite Parisienne in a Grace 1 at Leopardstown.
Prussian Eagle also ran well to finish a staying on three length runner-up to Buisness Sivola in a Grade 3 contest at Fairyhouse off an official rating of 134 and is now able to race off 4lb lower.
It makes the gelding look weighted to run a big race, if ready to go at the first time of asking for his new handler.

Ascot De Bruyere the ace in the pack among Sedgefield tips
Ascot De Bruyere shaped with bags of promise on seasonal reappearance and looks the answer to the 2m 3f novices’ handicap chase on today’s card at Sedgefield (13:35).
The ex-French trained gelding made a perfect start for Scottish handler James Ewart when making all to land a maiden hurdle at Mussleburgh by 4 1/2 lengths.
Ascot De Bruyere then failed to shine on his next start at Uttoxeter back in March, but there was lots to like about his chase debut at this venue last month when third to Volvalien.
After being held-up, the six-year-old made good headway two from home and stuck to the task really well to be beaten just 1 1/2 lengths in the hands of Lucy Alexander.
It was a cracking effort, given that Ascot De Bruyere looked in need of the run beforehand, and the son of Kapgarde is sure to strip much fitter for the outing.
The selection also looks a potential improver now stepped up in trip, while another plus is that Ascot De Bruyere is now reunited with Jake Greenall, who partnered him to success at Musselburgh.
Blakemount fancied to make winning return
In the 2m 3f handicap chase (14.40), Blakemount looks weighted to make a winning return to action.
The Sue Smith trained eight-year-old has some smart form to his name as a hurdler, including when beaten a short-head in a Grade 2 contest at Doncaster off an official rating of 136.
Plenty was expected of Blakemount when he was sent chasing at the start of last season, but it wasn’t until the final start of the campaign that he got off the mark over the larger obstacles.
The gelding jumped well and made all to score by a comfortable 2 1/2 lengths at Carlisle. This was a performance which suggested he was finally getting his act together and could have more to offer this season.
Although now 3lb higher in the weights, Blakemount’s revised rating of 131 still looks workable judged on his hurdling exploits, and the stable is in good form having saddled three winners from its last six runners.
