Hull FC bid to get back on track with Wakefield trip in Super League
Published:Following two defeats on the spin to Leeds Rhinos in Super League and the Challenge Cup respectively, Hull FC are aiming to return to winning ways as they visit Wakefield Wildcats.
They are odds-on with Coral at 2/5 for the win, and Jordan Abdull, who scored the only try last time out, is 5/2 to strike again in the anytime market.
However, last time out in the league, Danny Houghton, Jordan Thompson, Curtis Naughton and Fetuli Talanoa all crossed. They former duo are 5/2 and 2/1 anytime, while the latter are both odds-on at 8/13 in the same market, on what they hope will be a more successful return to West Yorkshire.
Radford has said that his players need to bounce back for consecutive matches against Wakefield: “The challenge for the 17 blokes that played against Leeds is that they have to try and charge back up for what is a crucial match against Wakefield,” Radford told local media.
“It’s a mental challenge as well as a physical one. Wakefield have had a ten-day turnaround to play us, which definitely gives them an advantage.
“Everything is on the up for them (Wakefield) with a new coach and plenty of new signings. We need to mentally recharge and physically recharge and learn how to catch a football.
“From a physical standpoint I thought we were really good on Friday night. I could hear some of the contacts from where I was sat,” continued Radford.
“I can only applaud the determination, effort and grit, but unless we fix our execution up we are not going to come away with anything. When you usually put that much effort into something you get your just rewards.
“But every time we get in the right positions we are handing the ball back to the opposition.”
For Wakefield, who have had 10 days to prepare for the match and under a new coach, Kevin Locke and Richard Owen are both evens in the anytime market, while new signing Jordan Tansey who joined from Castleford recently will hope to haunt his old club and has decent odds of 13/8 to cross anytime.
