Hugo Palmer Saturday runners blog: 'I hope the only danger is the newcomer'

Hugo Palmer shares his latest Saturday runners blog with Coral readers, previewing the runners he has on May 31, 2025 at Chester and York.

I’ve been very happy with Tricky Tel since his win here over 5 ½ furlongs earlier this month, Oisin Murphy got off him that day and said the horse really wants to be going over 6 furlongs, so we’re doing that – and a few yards more as well – here. He’s come forward for that win, he looks fantastic, and while we would have preferred a lower draw than stall 7, off those who have run, he’s the only winner, and I hope only the newcomer, Come On Over, is the one to worry about.

Sweet Fantastic is a lovely, game horse, who loves his racing, and while this is a typically competitive big field York handicap, he’s drawn well enough to hopefully be involved, and he will come on for his third place finish at Chester earlier this month, a run that I was very pleased with.

Box To Box is stepping up in trip here, he has won over slightly shorter around Chester, but whether or not he will stay this distance well enough to win, we simply don’t know until we try. He’s in really good order, and is another who looks fantastic, and while he does love it around here, we haven’t been done any great favours by the draw [stall 9].
