How to play Classic Blackjack with Coral

Casino games are some of the most popular games on the internet. They’re played by millions of people day in, day out. At first you might be blown away by the complex rules and social etiquette that surrounds these high-brow games, but you shouldn’t worry.

Once we take you through some of the most popular games around you’ll be the master of any table in no time!

Today we’ll be taking a look at Blackjack!

What’s Blackjack all about?

It’s all about beating the dealer!

Blackjack is all about getting as close to 21 as you can by ‘hitting’ – taking more cards – or ‘sticking’ – not taking anymore cards. Once you’ve got as close to 21 as you think you can, the dealer will try and do the same, and if he’s closer to 21 you lose. But, if you’re closer to 21 than he is, you’ll end up doubling your money.

Go over 21 though, and you’ll ‘bust.’ This means you’ll lose all your money.

You don’t play against other players, just the dealer!

Okay, so what’s doubling down, splitting and insurance?

Double Down

Say you’ve been dealt a 6 and a 4, and you think you’ll get a 9 or a 10 when you next hit, you can double your stake and you’ll be dealt one more card. This is great when the dealer is showing a low numbered card – say a 2, 3 or 4 – and you’re unable to bust. I wouldn’t recommend doubling down when you have a high number – anything 16+ – or when the dealer is showing a high number.

Splitting

Splitting is pretty simple. If you’ve been dealt two of the same cards, you can split. This means you’ll be doubling your bet, but you’ll be playing two hands instead of one. The new hands will have the same stake as your original one.

Splitting is risky if the cards are of low value or if the dealer is showing a high value card. I recommend you split with 8+ and if the dealer is showing anything less than a 7.

Insurance

Insurance is available when the dealer is showing an ace. You can front half of your original bet, and if the dealer has Blackjack – 21 with two cards – you’ll receive your original stake back.

In conclusion then

And that’s pretty much it with standard Blackjack. There are other varieties on offer, which once you’ve got the basic game down you’ll easily get the hang of.

Table games are best picked up simply by playing them. All you’ve got to do is head on to a table with the basic rules behind your belt and you’ll soon be playing like a seasoned pro.

So what are you waiting for, head on down to Coral’s casino and check out Blackjack!
