Fancy a flutter on the Grand National meeting this year, but new to betting? Not sure how to sign up, use mobile or online gambling? Coral have the answer with our comprehensive guide.
See below for a thorough step-by-step explanation of registering for an account, betting on your phone or tablet, and the old-fashioned way of going into a Coral store.
Our experts even explain win only and each-way betting to you. Don’t be intimidated by betting, take it up and enjoy responsible gambling with Coral.
How to register
Visit the Coral website, clicking on the join now button in the top right corner of your screen. Then simply fill in your personal details and set a username and password.
Click next and you’ll then have the chance to deposit funds from your credit/debit card or Paypal account. You can also set deposit limits to keep your gambling to a responsible level.
How to bet on desktop
Start by logging in to your account. If it’s a Grand National bet you fancy, then click on horse racing on the left-hand menu. Scroll down that menu and click on Aintree (there is likely to be a ‘Grand National’ option closer to the day of the race).
Select the race you want to bet on and the list of horses in order of favourite to outsider will appear. Once you click on the horse’s odds you fancy this wager will appear on the betting slip on the right-hand side of the screen.
Now enter your stake (the amount of money you want to put on) in the betting slip. You have the option to place either a win only or each-way bet. Find out more about the difference between these two below.
Click place bet once you’re happy with it. You can watch all the Grand National festival races via Coral’s streaming service on the site.
Each-way v Win only betting
Once you’ve chosen a bet and decided on the amount you want to stake on it, there’s a small each-way box for you to tick if you’re backing a horse to finish in the places. Leaving this tab blank means you’re going with the odds to win only.
Each-way bets mean you receive a fraction of the odds (usually between a third and a fifth) for the chosen horse usually finishing in either the first three, four or five. If you each-way and those win, then you receive your outright win stake plus money on it being placed.
Coral betting app
Alternatively, you may be a mobile customer using a smart phone or tablet. If you’re already signed up for a Coral account, then download our app and then sign in when it prompts you.
For Grand National mobile betting, click on the horse racing tab then select the feature button which prioritises the top action. This will generate the full racecard for either event, so then select the specific race you have in mind to bet.
The list of horses from favourite to outsider will then be listed. Click on the odds tab next to your chosen horse to add that bet to your betting slip. This will automatically appear and you can now enter your stake, and there’s also an each-way button.
Simply click bet now when you’re happy. You can also watch a stream of Grand National meeting races live from your phone or tablet too!
How to bet in shops
There’s nothing wrong with being old school and going into one of Coral’s many retail outlets and placing your bets on paper. Inside one of our stores you’ll find a screen that scrolls through the entire Grand National racecards.
Using a betting slip and the pens provided, write down your chosen horse, the race time and location. Also note down the odds offered on screen. Next to total stake, write down how much you’re putting on it. If it’s an each-way bet put e/w to indicate to the cashier this is your method of betting.
Then hand over your slip to the cashier who will give you a receipt. Keep hold of this because if it’s a winner you can bring it back and claim your winnings!
Coral Connect
Signing up for a Coral Connect account allows you to claim any online winnings in our stores through the card you receive. Once you’re logged in, click on the connect button in the top right-hand corner of the screen, which takes your though the relevant section of the site.
Once this new page has loaded, click on the shop locator button at the bottom of left-hand side of this screen. Type in your postcode, address or street in the box provided, and this will find your nearest Coral store.
In your local shop you can sign up for a Coral Connect card. Speak to one of our friendly staff and they’ll ask you for your Coral online account username and to create a four-digit pin number for your card.
