Tom Scudamore: “I am expecting another big run from Hydroplane”
Coral ambassador Tom Scudamore gives us the lowdown on his weekend rides at Cheltenham and Fontwell
There could be plenty of Cheltenham Festival clues on offer this weekend and Coral ambassador Tom Scudamore heads to Prestbury Park for three rides on Saturday, with Hydroplane his best chance of getting on the scoresheet.
He also heads to Sussex on Sunday for two rides at Fontwell and here he gives us his thoughts on all his weekend runners.
Saturday
This horse was a big price when he won at Sandown earlier this month. It was a great performance last time out.
He was obviously disappointing on his first start of the campaign, but he bounced back from that and he is a horse who is on an upward curve.
I am expecting another big run and I think he will have a good chance of being in the mix again.
1.55 Cheltenham – Eden Du Houx
Eden Du Houx is taking a step up in class in this race. He was a high-class bumper horse and he has had a couple of good runs already this season.
This is clearly a competitive contest, with the likes of Coole Cody, Galahad Quest and Farinet in it, but my horse has shown he is ready for this step up in class now, so we are hopeful of a big run.
4.15 Cheltenham – Walk In The Storm
She won nicely last time at Newcastle but she is going to need to take a big step forward here in this Listed race.
There are some really unexposed mares in this contest, but that’s not to say we can’t be in contention for the placings.
Sunday
Wells Glory won a bumper at Plumpton last season and he finished second at that same course on his hurdles debut last month.
We were a little disappointed in him that day, but the horse which finished third has come out and won since then, so the form of that race has been boosted. He looks to have a great chance of breaking his maiden over hurdles.
2.50 Fontwell – Watergrange Jack
This horse has some decent form in Ireland before moving to Neil Mulholland’s yard. He was running a big race at Doncaster earlier this month but he made a mistake at the third last hurdle from home and never really recovered.
You’d like to think a repeat of his last run, with a bit more luck, will put us in with a decent chance.
