Tom Scudamore: “No reason why Duc De Beauchene can’t be in the mix”
Tom Scudamore gives us the lowdown on his rides at Chepstow and Hereford this weekend.
It’s a busy weekend for our Coral ambassador who is at Chepstow on Saturday and Hereford on Sunday.
He has taken a bit of time to adapt to life in the UK. He didn’t run too badly last time at Fontwell, but in order to be competitive here, he will need to step up on what he has shown so far.
His form was ok in France, but he was a long way down the field at Exeter on his UK debut. Hopefully the wind-op he has been given since then will help.
You can put a line through his last run, that was not his form. He will love Chepstow and the conditions will suit him. I think he has very good chance of getting back to winning ways in this race.
He won around Chepstow last year in a race which has worked out well. He was disappointing first time out, but he should come on for that run.
We know he likes this course, and the trip will not be a problem. It is a competitive, but there is no reason why he can’t be in the mix.
He went up the weights a lot for his win at Bangor last year and it was unfortunate what happened to him last time back at Bangor where he unseated his rider. A much bolder showing can be expected in this latest assignment.
You can make a case for this horse with bits and pieces of form. He ran ok to a point over three miles at Ffos Las last time, but he will need to step up again here.
She has been frustrating as she has finished second a lot of times. She deserves to get her nose in front and this looks a good opportunity for her.
He is still a young horse who won impressively at Huntingdon two starts back but he was unable to add to that at Lingfield last time out. Nothing went right for him in that race and he is a much better horse than that. I think he has a good chance.
