Odds and preview for Saturday’s final day of the Festival

It’s the fourth and final day of this year’s St Leger Festival, and we’re rounding things off with St Leger Day from Doncaster racecourse.

We’ve got another seven races on the card to enjoy, including the Group 2 Champagne Stakes and Park Stakes, before the feature race, the Group 1 St Leger Stakes.

Before the action gets underway on the final day of action, we cast our eye over our pick of the day’s races.

The Richard Hannon-trained colt, Chindit, has looked strong in his two runs so far, justifying the backing received over course and distance on debut. Improved further to win the Listed Eddery Stakes at Ascot, and there’s still further improvement to come.

Albasheer, the Shamardal colt looked a real talent in his only run to date. He charged away from Albalaq in the Novice Stakes at Doncaster in July to win by over 6l. There’s plenty more left in the tank here which could appeal.

Despite finishing eighth on debut, Mujbar came home to land a win at Newmarket in the following run. Depending on the form he can find, there could be a challenge.

Limato put together an impressive performance when claiming the Park Stakes in 2015, and the veteran is still more than capable of putting together a smart race. The eight-year-old won well in the Criterion Stakes on reappearance and could take control of the race here.

One Master will look to challenge towards the front, as the versatile mare runs well between 6f and 1m. She looks most effective over 7f, which means the race should suit here, with a win in the Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood showing her quality.

After finishing runner-up in the 2,000 Guineas, and matching that form when coming home third in the St James’s at Royal Ascot, Wichita’s form has faded recently. Could stake a claim if form is regained.

Doncaster 15:35

There’s a highly competitive field for the St Leger, and it’s Hukum who’s heading in on the best form. The highly-progressive colt, who won a Royal Ascot handicap, followed it up with a win in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury. He’s a leading Group 1 contender and should run well here.

Galileo Chrome is matching the form of Hukum though, winning his last three starts. Most impressively, he won on heavy ground in the Listed Yates Stakes at Navan last time out, stepping up to travel 13f. He commands respect which could be shown by the end of the race.

After an impressive win in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, Pyledriver defied a penalty to win the Great Voltigeur at York. If he can last over the 1m 6f course, he could be the one to beat.
