Ger Lyons favours home outing for colt
Siskin has been introduced as the favourite to win the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
The colt is 5/2 to win the Curragh Classic after trainer Ger Lyons said he’d prefer a home outing to a shot at the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Arizona is the most likely competition at 7/2, while Mogul and Wichita are both currently 6/1.
“Ger Lyons favours a tilt at his home Guineas with his stable star, rather than travelling to Newmarket to take on Pinatubo, and as a result we make him the one to beat in our opening show on the Curragh Classic,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
In terms of the Irish 1,000 Guineas, Jessica Harrington could be set to taste success, with Albigna currently 5/2, while stablemates Millisle and Alpine Star are going at 4/1 and 9/2 respectively.
“Jessica Harrington enjoyed a terrific season with her juvenile fillies in 2019, and that is reflected in her having three of the first four in the betting for the Irish 1,000 Guineas at this stage,” added Stevens.
