Coral has this week announced that leading jumps jockey Sean Bowen has joined their team of racing ambassadors.

Bowen, 25, rode more winners than any jockey bar the champion Brian Hughes last season and has continued that good form in the latest campaign. He currently leads the standings with 20 winners and is 4/1 with Coral to win this season’s title.

As well as providing Coral customers with unique insight into his rides at all the major meetings this season with his exclusive blogs, Sean and Coral will also create tailor-made video content throughout the campaign, taking racing fans closer to the action. Sean will also wear the Coral logo on his breeches.

“I am delighted to be joining Coral as an ambassador,” commented Bowen. “They are a great team who put in and do a lot for racing. Throughout the year, hopefully you can all follow my progress and rides as I chase my first jockeys’ championship.”

Bowen ‘100 per cent going for it’ in title race

He added: “Most jockeys would love to be champion, and I’m 100 per cent going for it this season. I know it won’t be easy, with Brian Hughes a tough reigning champion to chase down, and Harry Cobden sure to ride lots of winners, but I hope I’m in a position where I can definitely challenge for it.

“I ride for plenty of different trainers, and they are yards that like to have runners through the summer months as well, as it’s important to get off to a good start at this time of year. I had my best ever May, with 18 winners, and with the support of trainers like dad (Peter Bowen), Martin Keighley and Gordon Elliott, and the hard work of my agent, Alan Cawley, hopefully we can keep it going.”

Bowen is also hoping to make a big impression in terms of quality, as well as quantity!

“Noble Yeats is the highest profile horse I’m associated with,” said Sean. “We got off to a great start last season, winning at Wexford and Aintree, and he then ran really well in some big races, including the Gold Cup and the Grand National again.

“His trainer, Emmet Mullins, thinks of things that the rest of us just don’t, so it would be no surprise to see him come up with a new plan for this season; I can’t wait to see what it is! I’m certainly lucky to be the man entrusted with riding this horse, he’s a proper star.

‘I’m looking forward to these two sons of Blue Bresil’

“I ride a lot for Olly Murphy and two young horses of his I’m really looking forward to this season are Indeevar Bleu, who won his Bumper at Wetherby in March, and Sao Carlos, a winner of his only bumper at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. They are both sons of Blue Bresil, and I’ve schooled them both over hurdles and am excited to ride them later in the season.”

Coral’s David Stevens added: “We are delighted to welcome Sean into our team of Coral ambassadors and look forward to giving racing fans the inside track on his season in the coming months.

“Taking our customers closer to the action is what we are all about, and few jockeys are better placed to do that in jumps racing than Sean, who has continued his great form into the new campaign.”

Coral are long-standing supporters and sponsors of British racing, with their team of ambassadors including former champion flat jockey Jim Crowley, ITV racing presenter Chris Hughes, leading jumps trainer Joe Tizzard and his stable jockey Brendan Powell, plus recently retired top jockey Tom Scudamore.

Coral also runs the UK’s largest free-to-join racing club, the Coral Racing Club, and its portfolio of race sponsorships includes the Coral-Eclipse, Coral Welsh Grand National, Coral Scottish Grand National and Coral Winter Festival at Newbury.
