Racing Tips: Truckers Lodge to deliver in the Midlands Grand National?

Odds, tips and preview for today’s racing

Cheltenham may have come and gone for another year, but after a great Festival, this isn’t the day after the Lord Mayor’s show.

With very little sport to enjoy this weekend, there are even more reasons than usual to look forward to today’s racing.

With competitive cards at Uttoxeter and Kempton live on ITV from 13:15, the ITV Racing crew will be bringing you the pick of the action. And we’ve brought you selections from the pick of the races…

Keen On – 14:05 Kempton

McFabulous may head the betting, but Keen On has real each-way potential here. The Nicky Henderson-trained gelding has won two of his three races over sticks.

Nico De Boinville was in the saddle for those two victories, with James Bowen taking over for January’s disappointing run at Warwick.

De Boinville is reunited with the six-year-old here, and that connection could make the difference. It’s an impressive field, with Eden Du Houx, Falco Blitz and Stimulating Song among the contenders, but the frame is well within reach here.

Sensulano – 15:15 Kempton

Going off a mark of 138, Sensulano comes into this on the back of an impressive run of form, with two wins and two second-place finishes in her last four races.

The eight-year-old stormed to victory at Fontwell and Warwick towards the end of 2019. If she can run anywhere near as smoothly today, she should trouble the places at the very least.

It’s all set up for a strong renewal, with Pistol Whipped, Legal Eyes and Drumconnor Lad in the running too.

Truckers Lodge – 15:35 Uttoxeter

Having come second in the Coral Welsh Grand National last time out, only one-and-three-quarter lengths behind Potters Corner, Truckers Lodge will be looking to go one better in the Listed Marston’s 61 Deep Midlands Grand National.

He’ll need a strong display to fend off Christmas in April and Petite Power, but the eight-year-old looks a reliable pick.

The distance could be a challenge, but he’s shown enough on his four starts over fences to suggest there’s plenty more to come.

ITV Racing tips:

13:50 Uttoxeter – Tambura

14:05 Kempton – Keen On

14:40 Kempton – The Butcher Said

15:00 Uttoxeter – Nordano (each-way)

15:35 Uttoxeter – Truckers Lodge
