Ballydoyle colt 5/1 after winning Gordon Stakes

Following victory in Thursday’s Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, Mogul’s odds for victory in the St Leger have been cut from 16/1 to 5/1.

The three-year-old colt ran to victory over Highland Chief by just under a length in the Group 3 race, with race favourite English King finishing just under two lengths back in fourth.

His Ballydoyle stablemates Santiago and Serpentine head the field for the Doncaster Classic as 9/4 favourite and 10/3 second favourites respectively.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “Ballydoyle have no shortage of St Leger possibles, with two Derby winners at the head of the market, but Mogul looked a thorough stayer when winning the Gordon Stakes, and would be a major player at Doncaster in our book.”

Elsewhere, following his thrilling victory in Wednesday’s Sussex Stakes, Mohaather has been placed as the 8/13 odds-on favourite to beat Kameko should the pair meet again this season.

Guineas winner Kameko is 6/5 to gain his revenge over the Glorious Goodwood winner.

Stevens added: “The Sussex Stakes result has sparked huge debate amongst racing fans, with plenty believing Kameko was an unlucky loser, but we’re not so sure, and make Mohaather odds-on favourite to come out on top should he and Kameko meet again this season.”
