Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard discusses the chances of his three runners at Wetherby on Saturday

Now we are into the jumps season proper, the big races comes thick and fast, including this weekend where we have a runner in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.

This is the first year where the licence is in my name, which I am chuffed to bits about. It doesn’t change a lot at home as Dad is still there and I am sure he will be very hands-on.

I am excited about the season ahead. A lot of our horses are ready to go after a break over the summer and as a trainer you just hope that everything goes to plan for them over the next six months.

3.00 Wetherby – Oscar Elite

We are getting a run in Oscar before the Coral Gold Cup next month at Newbury. We used this race as a stepping stone for Native River in 2016 and he scored at Newbury following a positive run here.

He is a big price in the race but obviously, he is coming up against some good hurdlers here in Sporting John, Indefatigable and Proschema. I am expecting him to run a solid race, but ultimately it is the Coral Gold Cup over fences where hopefully he will be at his peak, as we have had that race in mind for some time now.

3.35 Wetherby – Eldorado Allen

There has been a lot of talk about the match-up in the Charlie Hall Chase between Bravemansgame and Ahoy Senor, but you cannot forget about Eldorado Allen. He progressed a lot last season, with the pick of his wins coming at Newbury in the Denman Chase.

Eldorado Allen, Joe Tizzard

We think 3m around a flat track is right up his street. He seems well at home, and he is the highest-rated horse in the field. Obviously, the novices (Bravemansgame and Ahoy Senor) are very good, but we have a little more experience and that counts for a lot.

4.10 Wetherby – Aki Bomaye

He wasn’t quite seeing his races out last season so we have done a wind-op on him. He seems in good form now.

The good thing about his form dipping earlier this year is that he is back down to a competitive mark now. This horse jumps really well and we are hoping for a big run from him.
