Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard gives us a lowdown on Team Tizzard’s weekend runners

Saturday

1.50 Newbury – The Big Breakaway

He is coming back from a wind operation and he looks a million dollars. This is a prep run for the Coral Trophy at Kempton at the end of the month.

We just want to get a spin in him and improve his confidence. At the same time, he is well handicapped over hurdles. I think he should be in the shake up and then on to Kempton.

2.25 Newbury – Eldorado Allen

His form this season has been excellent so that is why we are having a pop at this prize. He got 2m4½f at Kempton last time and I am sure he will see out this distance on this ground at Newbury.

Royale Pagaille may want it softer, while Paul Nicholls’ horses are openly not flying at the moment. I think he can finish in the placings, and with a bit of luck, it could be even better.

3.35 Newbury – Jpr One

I am really excited about Jpr One’s chances in the Betfair Hurdle. It is not a route we have taken with our novices before.

He is such a streetwise horse so this has been the plan since Christmas and new year. We qualified with a victory at Taunton. He was so unlucky to be beaten at Cheltenham the start before that. I don’t think he will be rated 130 for much longer.

The field has cut up a little, which doesn’t hurt him as a novice. He deserves to be at the top end of the betting and he is a horse I have got a lot of time for. I expect him to run a big race.

Sunday

2.00 Exeter – The Widdow Maker

This looks a very competitive novice chase. We were going to go over fences with this horse earlier this season but then decided to give him one more spin over hurdles.

He has been jumping well at home. He is probably on his handicap mark now at 133. He will have an each-way chance.

2.30 Exeter – Triple Trade and West Orchard

Triple Trade won very nicely at Lingfield. He has grown into a nice horse. We want him to qualify for the EDF final at Sandown and this is his last chance of getting into that. We just have to finish in the first four to qualify. I think he will take some beating in this race.

West Orchard is a big baby. The track will suit him and will get an opening mark after this contest.

4.30 Exeter – Elegant Escape

He has got an entry in the Grand National. We have wanted to run him in the race for the last couple of years.

He ran well at Taunton last time out and he has performed well at this course before. I expect him to put in a good display and be thereabouts.
