Joe Tizzard: “This is the perfect race for Eldorado Allen”
Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard gives us the lowdown on the Team Tizzard Saturday runners
Lingfield 12.05 – Star Of Valour
Our day begins with a Flat runner on the all-weather at Lingfield. Star Of Valour ran a lovely race over the course and distance last time, just beaten into second by a neck.
Hollie [Doyle] got off him that day and said he would probably appreciate some cheekpieces, so that’s what we’ve done, with Hollie on board once again.
He’s got top weight here, but if he runs to the same level as he did last time – and there’s no reason why he won’t – then he shouldn’t be too far away.
Numbers Man took a heavy fall at Plumpton back in November, he was quite sore after that so we’ve given him a bit of time, and we’re bringing him back over hurdles to give him a confidence booster.
We do think he’s got more ability than his current mark suggests, but he has got to prove that on the track.
As I say, hopefully we can get his confidence back here and we’ll probably go back over fences with him in the spring.
Only four line up for this Grade 2, but it’s worth plenty of money, we’re always keen to support these races when we can, and in Eldorado Allen we have exactly the right horse for it.
He got the trip really well at Huntingdon last time [in the Peterborough Chase], and but for one mistake halfway down the back straight that day, I don’t think he’d have been too far away.
He’s got a six pound penalty here, but he’s got that because he won the Haldon Gold Cup, and he’s generally a consistent sort who always runs his race.
His three rivals are all decent performers, but equally all three need to bounce back to varying degrees, so we’re really looking forward to this, it’s the perfect race for him now, and I hope and think he’ll go close.
