Joe Tizzard: “We will give him an entry in the Grand National”
Trainer and Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard reacts to The Big Breakaway finishing second in the Coral Welsh Grand National and previews his runners at Newbury on Saturday.
The Big Breakaway reaction
I was chuffed to bits with how The Big Breakaway ran in the Coral Welsh Grand National. He conceded a lot of weight to the winner so it was amazing he got so close to him. What pleased me the most was he just kept on galloping and passing horses he was giving a stone and a half to.
We will give him an entry in the Grand National at Aintree. That is obviously a few months away, but he has shown he has the stamina. We will see what kind of weight we get for the race in February and take it from there.
Saturday
This horse would not want too much rain, so we will have a look when we arrive to see how much rain has gotten into the ground before running him in this race. If it ends up too heavy, we may end up waiting for another day. He showed some great form over the summer and hopefully he can still be competitive from this mark of 134.
He has been knocking on the door recently, and he has had two runs already this season. This looks like a very competitive contest, but as long as my horse gets the trip, and there is no reason why he wouldn’t, I would expect him to go close and have a good each-way chance.
