Jim Crowley: “Mujtaba has the perfect profile for the Cambridgeshire”
Coral ambassador Jim Crowley previews his three rides at Newmarket on Saturday
Mujtaba was very progressive last season. He went off as the favourite in the Lincoln, but it just did not quite happen for him in that race. Last time out at Doncaster, he won very well. He is 3lb well in on the back of that, as he has gone up 7lb in the handicap but gets into this race with a 4lb penalty.
I think being drawn in stall 16 is a good draw, so I have no complaints about that. Ideally, we want a drop of rain. If it was good to firm, he would not run. I’d say the more rain, the better for this horse.
Unfortunately, I went to Ayr last weekend for a William Haggas hotpot in a big handicap and he got stuffed. I am hoping for a different result this time. He looks to have the perfect profile for this race.
She has appeared twice so far, but I have yet to ride her. Last time out at Sandown, she took a big step forward on her debut to finish third at Sandown.
I’d expect her to improve again here now she has some experience. She has been impressing in her work at home, so we are expecting a big performance from her.
He has a great chance in this race. I was on board this horse when he scored at Doncaster last time. There were only four runners in that race, but he won it well.
Shadwell have a runner in this contest with Zainalarab, but unfortunately, I can’t do the weight on him. He has been assigned 8st 8lb and that is a bit light for me. I think he is my main danger in this race. On his latest appearance, he was slow out of the stalls, and he could never really make up the ground.
The Attorney is a big contender for this contest but I do fear Zainalarab.
