ITV Racing Preview: Notachance to beat Storm Control in Warwick’s Classic Chase?

| 15.01.2021

Odds and preview for Saturday’s ITV Racing coverage from Warwick and Market Rasen

We’ve got another round of ITV Racing to enjoy this weekend, with four races from Warwick, including the Grade 2 Novices’ Hurdle.

There are three races from Market Rasen on ITV’s coverage too, including the Listed National Hunt Flat Race at 15:15. Ahead of race off, we’ve had a look at three of the day’s headline races…

13:50 McCoy Contractors Civils and Infrastructure Hampton Novices’ Chase (Grade 2)

14:25 Ballymore Leamington Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)

15:00 McCoy Contractors Civil Engineering Classic Handicap Chase (Grade 3)

15:35 Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle

Market Rasen

14:05 MansionBet Handicap Hurdle

14:40 MansionBet’s Bet 10 Get 10 Hurdle

15:15 Alan Swinbank Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race (Listed)

Warwick 14:25

The Chepstow bumper winner, Make Me A Believer, was unlucky to run into Bear Ghylls on debut over hurdles, but improved to win at Cheltenham last time out. He’s gone back up in trip here and could keep improving.

Midnight River has won two of his last three appearances, winning his hurdling bow at Uttoxeter with another at Leicester and a decent second place finish at Cheltenham in between. Could go well again here.

On his Chepstow Rules debut, Oscar Elite blew the field away with an impressive run, following up with another win from a three-runner field last time out. There’s plenty more left in the tank, and with more improvement, could challenge.

Warwick 15:00

After 10 months off, Notachance impressed on return in November in a 3m win at Bangor. The seven-year-old isn’t as experienced as others in the field but jumps well and stays on too. A run over a longer trip could suit.

Storm Control could give the Alan King-trained gelding a run for his money, looking stronger up in trip this season than ever before. He’s won in back-to-back Cheltenham runs in recent months and will hope to follow up with another here.

After a decent second placed finish in this race a year ago, Captain Chaos is back for another try. He seems well below his best of late, but with his mark eased, better should be expected of him here.

Market Rasen 15:15

With just seven runners, the form of Eileendover could prove too much. She’s won a couple of junior bumpers convincingly, by a combined 45 lengths in total. She’s gone up in trip here, which could throw her off but she could come on well.

Merry Mistress was a clear winner at Hereford on debut, beating Ballybough Mary who won with ease on her next run. If she takes her chance, she could make an impression at this level.

After justifying the short odds she was given at Galway on debut, Grangee is ready for her second race. Running for a top Irish yard who won this race last year, she could be best placed to challenge.
