We take a look at the best of Saturday’s races

The racing fun continues this weekend and ITV will be showing the best of the action once again as they send their cameras to Ascot and York.

We’ve got nine exciting races to enjoy, with the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes taking centre stage.

And ahead of the action, we’ve highlighted the likely contenders in the key races.

Ascot

13:50 The Pat Eddery Stakes

14:25 The Moet and Chandon International Stakes (Listed)

15:00 The Porsche Handicap Stakes

15:35 The King Goerge VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Group 1)

16:10 The Ascot Handicap Stakes

York

14:05 The EBF Stallions Fillies’ Handicap Stakes

14:40 The York Stakes (Group 2)

15:15 The Handicap Stakes

15:50 The Handicap Stakes

14:25 Ascot

Despite a fifth and sixth in his last two outings, Shelir should go well, particularly now he’s 4lb lighter than previously. He was perhaps stretched by 1m last time out at Haydock.

Elsewhere, Arbalet will look to impress after going close in this same race two years ago. David O’Meara’s horse looked promising when finishing fourth at York last weekend.

Unexposed three-year-old Eshaasy could also spring a surprise after impressing in the Britannia over 7f at Sandown.

15:35 Ascot

All eyes will be on Enable as she looks to make history and become the first three-time winner of the race. Frankie Dettori takes the reins once again after success last year and in 2017 and she’s in good form after clinching second in the Coral-Eclipse.

But she’ll face stiff competition from Japan, who is looking for revenge after finishing behind Enable in the Eclipse. Ryan Moore’s ride finished fourth in the Arc after winning Group 1s at Longchamp and York and he’s been well backed ahead of this contest.

2019 Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck and last year’s Irish Derby winner Sovereign complete a small field, but the pair could have their work cut out.

14:40 York

Jim Crowley’s ride Elarqam heads the betting after winning this race last year, as well as two Listed contests. He also came second in last month’s Brigadier Gerard at Sandown.

Third in the Brigadier was Telecaster, who won last month’s La Coupe at Longchamp as well. Hughie Morrison’s four-year-old also won last year’s Dante and should go well here.

Fox Chairman could also impress despite a disappointing reappearance at Royal Ascot. He put that performance behind him with a strong third in a Listed race at Sandown.
