Horse Racing Trader’s Tips – Will Rogers Downs Preview – Monday 30th March

| 30.03.2020

Our trading expert Mark Underhill gives us his thoughts

Two weeks into their Spring Meeting, we’re heading back for more racing from Rogers County, Oklahoma for a 10-race card.

It’s the sixth meet over the two-week span and ahead of tonight’s action, which gets underway at 19:15, one of our traders has given us his picks to watch…

Leandro Goncalves

So far throughout the Spring Meeting, it’s Leandro Goncalves who has the highest conversion rate among the jockeys. From eight mounts, he’s ridden five winners and a second-place finish too.

Three of those five wins came in partnership with trainer Kari Craddock, and he’s mounting two Craddock-trained horses tonight, as he partners Rock Pache at 21:45 and Far Out Kailee at 23:45.

Goncalves’ booked rides: Recorder (20:45), Rock Pache (21:45), Knox Court (22:45) & Fall Out Kailee (23:45).

Scott Young

In the 2019 edition, Scott Young ended up the leading trainer at Will Rogers Downs with 17 winners. That left him with a strike rate of 21.5%, and his form hasn’t showed any signs of letting up, leading the trainers’ table in 2020 with 10 winners from 25 runners.

Young knows how to get his horses ready for their debuts, with his last two debut runners starting their careers with a win. He’s giving a debut to Tiger Treats in the 22:15, so the unraced colt could be one to keep an eye on in the market for a maiden claimer.

Young declared runners: Jimmy Winne (20:15), Hot Fudge Louie (20:45), Tiger Treats (22:15), Handsome Traveler & Inclusively (22:45) & Sheza Hot Flash (23:15).

Ty Kennedy

While Goncalves is leading the way at this meeting in terms of win percentage, it’s Ty Kennedy who has ridden the most winners. He’s managed nine wins from 24 mounts.

Kennedy rode a winner for trainer Young on each of the previous two Will Rogers Downs cards, and the pair come together again in the 23:15 as Kennedy mounts the unbeaten three-year-old filly Sheza Hot Flash in the most valuable race of the day.

Kennedy’s booked rides: Seahawk Wave (19:45), Jazz Music (20:45). Champagne’s On Ice (22:15), Corrana En Limen (22:45) & Sheza Hot Flash (23:15).
