Horse Racing Trader’s Tips: Åby – Thursday 16th April
Our trader takes a look at the best of the action in Sweden
Racing action continues in Sweden on Thursday, with an eight-race card of trotting in Åby.
And our expert Mark Underhill has outlined who to look out for.
Robert Bergh has been the driver to watch in the last meeting at Åby, having won four of his seven races. He trained all four of the winners himself and since gaining his training licence in 1993 he’s sent out more than 4,000 winners.
He drove 120 winners last year and he’s continued that form into 2020 with 23 wins from his first 92 drives, boasting an impressive strike rate of 25%.
Bergh has six drives booked for Thursday and Indra’s Secret looks to be his best bet in the card’s most valuable race at 19:00. The six-year-old has won three of her last six outings, including at Bergsåker earlier this month when driven by Bergh.
But Indra’s Secret will face still competition from 13-time winner Encore Un Sisu. She’s enjoyed a win in each of her last four starts, including a shorter trip here at the start of the month. She teams up again with Björn Goop, Sweden’s most successful ever driver with more than 7,000 career wins.
Goop could also add to that tally with German-bred FromHeaven Idzard in the 19:44. The four-year-old makes his Swedish debut and is looking to build on successive wins in the Netherlands and Germany.
Robert Bergh drives: Foreign Rain (17:30), Indra’s Secret (19:00), J.H.Respons (19:22)
Björn Goop drives: Embakasi Sun (17:30), Call The King (18:38), Encore Un Sisu (19:00), Twigs Ceasar (19:22), FromHeaven Idzarda (19:44)
