Master Tommytucker 6/1 Cheltenham Caspian Caviar Gold Cup favourite

Goshen has been made the 2/1 favourite to win his season opener on Saturday in the Grade 2 International Hurdle at Cheltenham.

The four-year-old Gary Moore-trained gelding hasn’t managed a victory in each of his last three flat races, but a return to the jumps course could see him return to the victory step.

Song For Someone, who recently won the Coral Hurdle, has been placed as the 9/2 second favourite, with Silver Streak available at 5/1.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “Although this will be Goshen’s first start of the jumps season, he’s been in action on the flat since his unlucky Triumph Hurdle defeat and is clear favourite to enhance his Champion Hurdle claims with victory on Saturday.”

Elsewhere, Master Tommytucker, a recent winner at Haydock, is the 6/1 favourite for glory in Saturday’s Caspian Caviar Gold Cup ahead of old rival Al Dancer, who is the 7/1 second favourite.

A win for Master Tommytucker would mean even more success for trainer Paul Nicholls, who is currently the 1/3 favourite to win the NH Trainers’ Championship.

“Paul Nicholls is setting the pace at the head of the trainers’ title race, with a one-two in Saturday’s Tingle Creek extending his lead, and his Master Tommytucker is now clear favourite to give the 11 times champion more big race success this weekend,” added Stevens.

After winning last Saturday’s Chepstow trial, Secret Reprieve has been moved to 8/1 (from 10/1) as the favourite to win the Coral Welsh Grand National, after former winner Native River was ruled out of this year’s renewal.
