Goodwood’s big two handicaps top Coral’s Glorious meeting turnover list

The Coral Stewards’ Cup and the Coral Golden Mile were the two highest turnover races for Coral’s online business during last week’s Qatar Goodwood Festival.

Two of the week’s three Group Ones – the Qatar Nassau Stakes and the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup – came third and fourth respectively, with the King George Stakes the fifth highest turnover of all the Goodwood Festival races across the five days.

The Qatar Sussex Stakes was at 26th place, with the race featuring the 1/6 market leader Baaeed ridden by Coral ambassador Jim Crowley.

“Next came two of the week’s three Group Ones, highlighting how quality, competitive contests will always be a hit with punters, while the other top level contest, the Qatar Sussex Stakes, was only 26th on the list, a position that can be attributed to the presence of the red-hot favourite Baaeed, and we would expect that race to be much higher in most other years.

“The Coral Stewards’ Sprint Handicap [Stewards’ Cup consolation] was in ninth place despite a disappointing field of just 12, and with more runners, we can confidently say it would have been even higher in the standings.”
