The Godolphin horse impressed at York on Wednesday

Ghaiyyath has been installed as the favourite for the Champion Stakes after storming to victory in yesterday’s Juddmonte International.

The Champion Stakes will take place at Ascot in October and Ghaiyyath is the market leader after being priced at 13/8 with Coral.

Mishriff comes in second at 7/2, while last year’s winner Magical is going at 8/1.

“Ghaiyyath does also have the option of the Arc as his big autumn target,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“But if connections stick at a mile and a quarter, he would surely be sent off favourite for the Champion Stakes, although in Mishriff he could face a classy younger rival.”

Meanwhile, the market is also open for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, with Palace Pier currently heading the betting at 2/1.

“The mile division looks particularly strong this season, with the unbeaten Palace Pier heading the QE II betting, ahead of a Sussex Stakes winner, and a pair of Guineas winners, Siskin and Kameko, priced at 9/1 and 10/1 respectively,” added Stevens.
