Trainers will be relieved after the recent weather
It looks like this year’s Cheltenham Festival will openwith Soft Going on Day One, according to our latest odds.
The highlight of the jumps calendar gets underway on Tuesday 10th March. With not long to go, there’s been some worry about the condition of the ground in the aftermath of Storm Dennis.
However, our odds suggest Soft Going is on the cards at 4/6. It’s 6/4 for Good to Soft, with 4/1 for Heavy.
“There has been some concern about how much rain is going toget into the ground at Cheltenham before the Festival. Our betting suggests thelikely Going will be Soft on day one of the meeting,” said Coral’s John Hill.
“Good to Soft is second best in the market, which is the ground most trainerswill be delighted with, while Heavy ground is certainly a lively possibilitythis year if the rain continues to fall over the next couple of weeks,” addedHill.
The weather did cause plenty of alarm at last year’s Festival, with fears that Ladies Day may have to be cancelled. Fortunately for racegoers, the event went ahead as planned.
4/6 Soft, 13/8 Good to Soft, 7/2 Heavy, 40 Good, 80 Other
