Horse Racing Trader’s Tips: Breeders’ Cup – Saturday 7th November

Day Two of this year’s Breeders’ Cup is set to deliver yet more exciting races from Keeneland.

Ahead of the action, our man Ben Hutton has revealed which horses he’s keeping an eye on.

Day Two

The Filly & Mare Turf is the first big race of the night from a European point of view and we hold a strong hand with the likes of Peaceful, Terebellum and Audarya. Peaceful represents the Classic generation of fillies who did well in Europe this year so holds strong claims back at a trip that suits.

Terebellum is fresher than most of these which should count for plenty, so is another primed to run a big race for the popular John Gosden and Frankie Dettori combo.

Rushing Fall heads the betting for leading US turf trainer Chad Brown and arrives here off a smart win in the Diana at Saratoga.

The Mile is always one the highlights of the weekend and this year’s renewal looks a cracker. Kameko brings some really smart European form to the table and looks an obvious favourite, though there’s a nagging doubt that he lacks that tactical speed you need to really thrive in this race.

At a bigger price the speedier Siskin makes more appeal than the favourite. The home team also look particularly strong this year, with Ivar and Halladay the most interesting.

This year’s Distaff looks a match, with three-year-old Swiss Skydiver taken to overturn favourite Monomoy Girl.

The former looked all heart when beating Kentucky Derby winner Authentic in the Preakness, whilst Monomoy Girl still needs to prove she’s back to her previous best having missed 2019 through injury.

Another big race for Euros, The Turf looks our best chance of a winner on the night. Magical has danced every dance over the last few years and her laboured third in the Champion Stakes had a look of a tired horse to me.

Mogul‘s Grand Prix de Paris romp was well franked by the placed horses in the Arc, but those two races were run on totally different ground so that might be misleading. He is another that doesn’t really appeal at the price.

Tarnawa looks the real improver in this race based on her Vermeille and Opera wins at Longchamp and she is fancied to give legendary international trainer Dermot Weld his first Breeders’ Cup win.

The Classic looks wide open this year in a division lacking a real star but the result is an intriguing betting race. Tiz The Law swept all before him earlier this season, winning the Florida Derby, Belmont and Travers before coming unstuck in the rearranged Kentucky Derby.

He could easily bounce back but he’s a horse that doesn’t like the be crowded, so stall two could prove problematic. Improbable showed star potential at two before getting a bit lost as a three-year-old.

He’s bounced back this year and has looked world class on his last three starts so is taken to give Bob Baffert yet another Classic.
