Spatial and Yangtze among Friday tips for Newmarket and York

Spatial to turn on the style in Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket
Spatial created a huge impression when scoring last time out, and can take the step up into Group 1 company in her stride to land the Dubai Fillies’ Mile on a terrific seven-race card at Newmarket (15.10).
The Sir Michael Stoute trained filly shaped with stacks of promise when runner-up to Wuheida on the July course at this venue where, after being steadied at the start, she kept on nicely to be beaten 1 1/2 lengths without being unduly knocked about.
Wuheida has since come out and landed the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Chantilly to give the form a rock solid look. And, Spatial duly showed the benefit of that experience, when running out the impressive winner of a 7f maiden at the same venue.
After racing prominently throughout, the beautifully bred daughter of New Approach took up the running at the furlong marker and only had to be pushed out with hands and heels to stretch clear and easily beat Unforgetable Filly by 2 1/2 lengths.
It was a most taking performance and Spatial had the re-opposing Sobetsu a further length back in third.
With the step up to 1m looking sure to suit and stacks more improvement assured, Spatial can take this to further enhance her claims for next year’s 1000 Guineas for which she is currently 16/1 with Coral.
Double Lady to deliver in Oh So Sharp Stakes
Trainer Andre Fabre has a superb record with his runners at the venue and Double Lady can further enhance it with victory in the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes (14.05).
The French handler has an overall strike rate of 30 per cent at the track and in Double Lady has a progressive filly who looked a top notch prospect when scoring last time out.
After going down by just 1/2 a length to the highly-regarded Toulifat on debut at Clairefontaine when showing distinct signs of greenness, the daughter of Stormy River showed the benefit of that experience when romping to a three length success in an 11-runner maiden at Maisons-laffitte.
Double Lady was given a confident ride by Pierre-Charles Boudot and, after being held-up in mid-division, made stealthy headway two from home before quickening clear inside the last to score with any amount in hand.
Although what she beat is questionable, the manner in which Double Lady travelled and put the race to bed suggested she had a huge engine and needed keeping firmly onside.

Yangtze hot stuff at York
Yangtze scored in terrific style last time out and can make light of a rise in the weights to follow-up in the 1m 6f handicap on an ultra-competitive seven-race card at York (15.25).
The Sir Michael Stoute trained three-year-old has a progressive profile and has shown improved form since being fitted with cheekpieces and stepped up in trip to win two of his last three starts.
Yangtze was particularly impressive in the last of those at Haydock, where after taking up the running two from home he drew clear to readily beat Parliamentarian by 3 1/2 lengths.
The runner-up is a useful sort who went into the contest on the back of a brace of successes and that gives the form a solid look in the context of this contest.
Although Yangtze has been hit with a 7lb rise for that runaway success he is clearly thriving and looks the type who may have even more to offer.
Shipyard weighted to strike
Shipyard caught the eye last time out and looks decent each-way value in the 6f handicap (15.55).
The Mick Appleby trained gelding was in fine form last season when winning three times, with the last of those successes coming in a competitive 18-runner contest at Ascot where he beat Vimy Ridge by a neck off a mark of 87.
Although Shipyard has failed to get his head in front in 10 starts this season he has run well to make the frame on several occasions off a mark of 89.
The seven-year-old is now able to race off his last winning mark of 87 and comes into the race on the back of an excellent fifth of 16 to Shamson at Ascot.
Shipyard held every chance until weakening close home to be beaten just over a length and it was an effort which suggested his time was near.
If building in it the son of Pivotal looks weighted to run a huge race on the pick of his form.
