Haydock tips: Lady Of Camelot can collect in Lancashire Oaks

Lady Of Camelot the Lancashire Oaks choice
Trainer John Gosden has an excellent record in the Lancashire Oaks and Lady Of Camelot can further enhance it with victory in this year’s renewal of the Group 3 contest at Haydock (14:15).
The Newmarket handler has won the six times, including three of the last five runnings.
In Lady Of Camelot, Gosden has a lightly-raced filly who after shaping with promise when fifth on debut at Lingfield overcame a 542 absence to open her account in good style at Leicester in May.
After racing close-up, the four-year-old was produced to take up the running inside the last and only had to be driven out to comfortably beat Ajman Princess by 1 3/4 lengths.
Form working out well
It was a most taking performance, and the runner-up has since gone on to run a cracker to finish runner-up in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The third home Ruscombe has also come out and won since, and the front three pulled five lengths clear of the field to give the form a rock solid look.
Judged on that display, Lady Of Camelot looks well worth a crack at this level, especially as she remains totally unexposed and open to any amount of improvement.
Snoano each-way value in Old Newton Cup
Snoano scored in good style last time out and looks decent each-way value in a typically wide-open renewal of the valuable Old Newton Cup (14:50).
The gelding was a dual winner as a juvenile when trained by Gosden, rated 100 at his peak, and after posting some eye-catching efforts in five starts this season since joining Tim Easterby took advantage of a drop in the weights to land an amateur riders’ contest at York.
After being held-up in mid-division travelling strongly, the four-year-old made smooth headway to take up the running at the furlong marker and only had to be nudged out to score by 1/2 a length.
Value for more than the winning margin
Snoano scored with more in hand than the winning margin suggests, and a 5lb rise in the weights for that success looks more than fair.
Connections have also offset the rise by booking top apprentice Rachel Richardson to do the steering, so in effect Snoano is a winner without a penalty.
The son of Nayef also remains well-treated off a revised rating of 94 on his back-form and will will relish the cut in the ground at the Merseyside venue.
