Hamilton and Kempton previews: Giant Spark poised to follow-up

Giant Spark has a huge chance at Hamilton
Giant Spark scored in terrific style last time out and can make light of a penalty to follow-up in the 6f amateur riders’ handicap on this evening’s card at Hamilton (18.15).
The Paul Midgley trained gelding had hinted that there was better to come before emphatically opening his account at Redcar eight days ago.
After tracking the leaders travelling strongly, the four-year-old took up the running at halfway before powering clear to win easing down by nine lengths in the hands of Simon Walker.
Giant Spark scored with any amount in hand and it’s no surprise to see connections turn him out quickly under a 6lb penalty.
The son of Orientor is set to race off a revised rating of 72 in future assignments, but is able to run in this off just 64.
It means that Giant Spark is 8lb “well-in” at the weights, and with Walker once again in the saddle he is going to be very tough to beat.
Cosmic Chatter handicapped to strike
Cosmic Chatter is back down below his last winning mark and looks a lively outsider in the 6f handicap (20.45).
The Ruth Carr trained gelding got back on the scoresheet for the first time in over three years when scoring Beverley last August by 2 3/4 lengths off a mark of 74, and backed that up with a cracking head second at Musselburgh off 80.
Cosmic Chatter is now able to race off a reduced rating of 73, 1lb lower than when last victorious, and that make him weighted to go in again on the pick of his form.
Although yet to trouble the judge in four runs this season, the six-year-old has shaped better than the bare result suggests on more than one occasion.
Cosmic Chatter will also relish the quick ground, and has shown enough to suggest that he retains the ability to win a race of this nature.

Dutch Destiny weighted to deliver at Kempton
Trainer William Haggas is enjoying a good spell at present and Dutch Destiny can take advantage of what looks a lenient mark or provide him with another winner in the 7f handicap on this evening’s card at Kempton (20.00).
The filly only had two starts as juvenile, and shaped with bags of promise on debut over course and distance when second of 13 to Barleysugar.
After being slowly away and hampered at the start, the daughter of Dutch Art made good headway two from home once the penny dropped and finished strongly to be gaining at the finish an beaten just over two lengths.
The winner is a useful sort now rated 91, and the third, fourth and sixth home have all won since to give the form a rock solid look.
Dutch Destiny went on to open her account in good style at Redcar when readily beating the now 82-rated Girling by a length, and has been allotted an opening handicap mark of 81 on the back of that success.
That looks very lenient, especially on her run behind Barleysugar, and Dutch Destiny looks the type who should have plenty more to offer as a three-year-old.
Rezwaan ready to rock
In the 1m 3f handicap (18.30), Rezwaan can capitalise on a drop in the weights to land back-to-back runnings of the contest.
The Murty McGrath trained nine-year-old is a dual course and distance winner, and in the last of those 12 months ago bolted up in this race by 4 1/2 lengths off a mark of 55.
Rezwaan was put up to 64 for that romp, and has managed to make the frame just once in 10 subsequent outings.
However, that has resulted in the assessor cutting the veteran plenty of slack and Rezwaan is now able to race off a reduced rating of just 51.
That is 4lb lower than his demolition job in this last year, and gives Rezwaan major claims from a handicapping perspective of retaining his crown.
