Arsenal travel to Germany
Germany and England do battle in Munich on Wednesday evening as Arsenal travel to the Allianz Arena, home of local legends Bayern Munich, for the round of 16 in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal far from impressive
Arsenal warmed up for this season-defining trip with a morale-boosting 2-0 weekend win over Hull. Sanchez was the hero for the Londoners, once again, scoring a double to ease home tensions. Breaking the deadlock on 34-minutes, the fans’ favourite added a bit of sparkle to the final-score when bagging a second in injury-time from the spot.
Manager Arsene Wenger called it a fortunate win in his post-match media chat, explaining that his boys struggled a bit to deal with the pressure of needing a home win. The points were picked up, but there was little about Arsenal’s performance that would have impressed punters, especially going into such a mammoth tie.
Munich in top gear
Bayern Munich, who were surprise runners up behind Atletico Madrid in Group D, have not had the same worries domestically, and can be found out in front in the Bundesliga. The Bavarians are looking home and hosed with regards to defending their German top-flight crown too, with nearest rivals RB Leipzig seven points off the pace in second.
Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti’s side go into this home test unbeaten in their last nine league games, a run showing eight wins and a draw. They again banked a maximum at the weekend when beating FC Ingolstadt on the road, courtesy of two late goals from Vidal and Robben, less than 60-seconds apart.
Robert Lewandowski couldn’t get on the scoresheet, but he reminded backers why he deserves the utmost respect in the goal scorer betting on Wednesday, having a shot cleared off the line and another cannon back off the post. The Polish striker is 5/2 with Coral to get the first goal here.
Stats support Arsenal to score
Arsenal’s last visit to this stadium ended in a humiliating 5-1 defeat in November 2015. Lewandowski, Alaba and Robben all scored, with Muller hitting a double. Giroud got a late consolation.
That result means that the English side have won only one of their five away days with Munich, the spare in 2013, but it is useful to know that they have scored at least one goal in each of their last four visits, and both teams to find the net again here looks well worth an interest at 3/4 with us.
