Digby drawn to deliver at Wimbledon
Action form Henlow and Wimbledon takes centre stage tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 368, Freesat 250) and T6 Digby Mia rates the standout bet at the latter in the 687m stayers Open at 21:48.
Danny Brabon’s Coral Regency finalist has some top class form to his name and won over course and distance back in March when holding on gamely to beat Oneco Melissa by a short-head in a time of 41.93.
That sets a decent standard in this line-up and, as the sole wide side, Digby looks to have a terrific draw from which to operate.
With the slow starting Mustangg Golden immediately on his inside the son of Jordansoilutions should get acres of space in which to operate on the run to the first bend and, with possible crowding on the rails, can then cut loose for a trap-to-line success.
Queen Asia to rule again
T1 Queen Asia has an excellent strike rate at the track and can further enhance it with victory in the 480m standard Open (22:03).
Liz McNair’s bitch has won six of her 15 starts at the venue and is 1-1 when sporting the red jacket.
That success came five days ago where she showed plenty of early dash to boss the inside and score by 1 1/2 lengths in a time of 28.57.
The daughter of Droops Scolari is once again nicely housed and looks open to further improvement on just her fifth competitive start back after a break.
Queens Asia is also a tenacious sort when getting on the bunny and, if turning in front, there’s little than can peg her back.
Wimbledon best bets
21:48 T6 Digby Mia (NAP)
22:03 T1 Queen Asia (NB)
Matilda can waltz to more success at Henlow
T3 Moors Matilda has been a tremendous servant over the years and looks to have an excellent opportunity of notching another success in the S1 at Henlow (21:24).
John Gardner’s popular bitch has won 12 of her 57 starts at the track and has a 25 per cent strike rate when wearing the white jacket.
She comes into the race on the back of a very impressive success over 692m at the venue, where she powered clear to score by three lengths.
The drop back to 550m will hold no fears and Matilda’s best recent winning time of 33.50 in the grade over it sets the standard in this line-up.
If getting away in good style and turning in a handy pitch, the daughter of Coolavanny Bert’s powerful finish is going to make her very hard to contain in the latter stages of the contest.
Savana Becky worth a bet
In the A3 (22:11), T1 Savana Becky can capitalise on what looks a peach of a draw to land the spoils.
Jason Ray’s bitch won an Open over course and distance back in April when producing a 3.75 sectional to flash from the lids and make all to beat Lacken Belle by 2 1/4 lengths.
She was also very impressive on her latest start at the venue when again quickly away and beating the strong staying Moors Matilda by four lengths in an A4.
Those performances read very well in the context of this contest and Becky should have little difficulty leading up T2 Blackeyed Snowey.
If doing so she can turn the first bend in front and quickly establish a race winning lead.
Henlow best bets
21:24 T3 Moors Matilda (NAP)
22:11 T1 Savana Becky (NB)
