Gold Cup Group A: Honduras take on Panama while USA play Haiti

The second games of the Gold Cup get underway in Group A, as Honduras play Panama and USA face Haiti. Coral take a look at the best odds for each game.

Honduras v Panama
Following a 1-1 draw in their first match against Haiti, Panama prepare to gain Group A advantage by taking three points off Honduras, and are 19/10 for the win.

Alberto Quintero scored the opener in the last match, striking from outside the area following a failed clearance and, as a result is 12/1 to break the deadlock again, though also has respectable odds of 5/1 in the anytime market.

Still waiting to open their accounts are attackers Blas Perez and Luis Tejada who are both 6/1 to open the scoring and 7/4 in the anytime market.

For Honduras, Carlos Discua scored as his team were beaten by USA in the first match, and is 11/2 in the anytime market.

USA v Haiti
A Duckens Nazon equaliser on the counter-attack ensured Haiti picked up a point against Panama, and he is 7/1 in the anytime market against the USA who are odds-on at 1/12 to win their second match.

However, it was Clint Dempsey that stole the show for the USA as the Stars and Stripes beat Honduras 2-1 with the former Fulham midfielder bagging a brace. He is 5/2 to open the scoring.

“I think the crowd was behind the whole team,” Dempsey said after the opening match.

“I remember when I first started with the national team and they’d be more fans for the other team sometimes. So to be able nowadays to play in front of pro-American crowds, I think the team definitely feeds off that energy.”

Goalkeeper Brad Guzan had to be at his best though, to ensure Jurgen Klinsmann’s side escaped unscathed.

“They came out and put us under a bit of pressure and we had to find a way to weather that storm, which we did,” Guzan said. “I don’t think we were at our best. I think we turned the ball over quite easily too many times and maybe put ourselves under some undo pressure.”

Coral recommended bet: Demspey first scorer @ 5/2
