Goalscorer tips: Fit-again Ings can get better

Three players who could find the net this weekend

The end of the Premier League season is in sight and the race for the Golden Boot is heading towards an exciting conclusion.

The leading contenders will be out to boost their tallies but if you’re looking for Premier League goalscorer tips this weekend, here are a few other players who may be worth considering to find the net in Saturday’s three matches.

Chris Wood (Burnley) v Leeds

Wood became Burnley’s record signing when he joined from Leeds, having scored 44 goals in 88 appearances for the Yorkshire side.

That investment has paid off for the Clarets and Wood is now one of the form strikers in the Premier League with eight goals in his last eight games ahead of the reunion with his former club.

Burnley may still feel aggrieved after their 1-0 defeat at Elland Road earlier in the season when two refereeing decisions went against them and Wood will be key to them getting revenge.

Sean Dyche’s men dominated the second half of that fixture, having 10 attempts, and Wood will be a threat against a Leeds defence which has struggled in the air at times this season.

Wood can be backed at 3/1 to open the scoring or evens to find the net at any time.

Danny Ings (Southampton) v Fulham

Southampton’s top scorer celebrated his return from a two-game injury absence by scoring twice in the the 3-1 win against Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl said: “With Danny we are a different side because he makes the chances we need to score and sometimes also goals when you don’t think there is a chance.

“The first goal was fantastic from him. And this is why he is important for us.”

Ings’ double gave a timely reminder to England boss Gareth Southgate ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

The 28-year-old scored 22 Premier League goals last season and now has 12 this time despite struggling with a series of muscle injuries.

He is 6/4 to add to his tally this weekend or 7/2 to open the scoring against a Fulham team which will be low on morale after their relegation was confirmed on Monday.

Tomas Soucek (West Ham) v Brighton

West Ham’s form has dipped in the last few weeks and there is a danger of them slipping out of the European places as the season comes to a conclusion.

The Hammers must quickly rediscover their top form and that includes Soucek, who was one of the players of the season in the first half of the campaign.

The Czech Republic international has scored nine league goals this season but has gone six matches without finding the net, although he hit a hat-trick for his country during the last international break.

Soucek grabbed a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Brighton in December and with the suspended Lewis Dunk missing from the Seagulls’ defence this weekend, he can be backed at 16/5 to get back on the scoresheet here or 8/1 to strike first.
