Glen Rocco favourite to land Handicap Chase at Kempton this weekend
Published:
Can the eight-year-old see off the competition?
Glen Rocco tasted glory at Kempton last month, with Nick Gifford’s gelding coming good on 11/4 favouritism.
The eight-year-old is similarly priced to lift this year’s 888Sport Handicap Chase, with 7/2 on more glory for Glen Rocco.
Having placed in each of his last four contests (including a 14/1 win at Fontwell), it’s no surprise to see him well-fancied.
He’s followed in the betting by Nicky Henderson’s in-form Janika at 5/1. Meanwhile, there’s 11/2 on recent course winner Adrien Du Pont, who typically has Harry Cobden in the saddle.
Coral’s David Stevens co-owns Glen Rocco, alongside Jeremy Kyle and Ged Mason.
Stevens said: “Glen Rocco split last Friday’s Sandown winners Glen Forsa and Carlos Du Fruitier at Kempton on Boxing Day, before winning in good style over course and distance last month, so Nick Gifford’s charge is a worthy favourite for this weekend’s big race, and I say that with my Coral hat and my co-owner’s hat on!”
