Game of the Day: 10 Line Jacks or Better
Published:Join Game of the Day to explore a modern version of an all time classic
Hello and thank you for joining us for another Game of the Day, where our mission is to review the best and brightest casino games around. Today our topic is a classic Video Poker game with a modern twist – its 10-Line Jacks or Better, developed by Playtech.
Charles Fey, of San Francisco, invented the first slot machine in 1887, but he was attempting to create a game very similar to Video Poker. Unfortunately his mechanism would never be sophisticated enough to recognise all possible Poker hands, so the idea had to wait until the computer age. It would take until 1979 for the long held ambition to become reality, when an early version of Jacks or Better reached Las Vegas.
Jacks or Better has similar rules to Draw Poker. After a hand begins you are dealt a 5 card Poker hand, you then have 1 chance to discard as many of those original 5 cards as you like, which are then replaced with new cards from the deck. After the draw, the strength of your 5 card hand determines your payout – any Poker hand equal (or better) to a pair of jacks earns a prize.
However, in 10 line Jacks or Better there’s a few small twists. Firstly you play 10 hand simultaneously, and 2nd there is a progressive jackpot to be won. The jackpot is triggered when anyone makes a Royal Flush with their “jackpot hand”.
Video Poker is a strategic game, and making the right decisions about which cards to keep and discard will make a big difference to your results. As with Blackjack, many players enjoy a game which requires a simple strategy – but is still easily picked up by casual players.
10 Line Jacks or Better offers an enticing playing experience, with the chance of a 5 figure progressive jackpot win; and is available to play now in the Games Tab. Thank you for joining us for another Game of the Day, we’ll be back soon with more of the greatest slots and new releases.
