Today’s World Cup odds and previews

It’s day two of the World Cup and the first proper day, with three group matches taking place.

Russia and Saudi Arabia got things underway yesterday, and now it’s the second match in Group A plus two games in Group B.

You can enjoy a full preview of Portugal v Spain’s hotly-anticipated clash right here.

Stick around though, as the Coral News Team run through Egypt versus Uruguay and Iran against Morocco…

Egypt v Uruguay

There’s only one question ahead of this one. Will Mohamed Salah be fit? Egypt appear confident that their star man will be.

But even so, Salah’s return might not be enough. After a five-game winless run last year, Uruguay are heading to Russia having lost just one of their last eight games.

They’re favourites to win Group A, and are odds-on to begin with a win this afternoon at 6/10. Egypt are the 11/2 outsiders, with a draw 13/5.

Egypt will do well to contain Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez. The two strikers would walk into pretty much any side in Russia this summer.

The pair share first goalscorer favouritism at 13/5. Salah is 6/1 to break the deadlock. There’s 29/20 for both teams to score and 9/5 about Uruguay on the -1 handicap.

Morocco v Iran

Over in Group  B, Iran and Morocco meet in what is arguably each side’s most important game of the tournament.

With Spain and Portugal completing the quartet, it will be tough for either these two sides to progress.

That means a win this evening is imperative. An open-contest could be on the cards.

There are more than a few whispers suggesting Morocco could be one to watch in Russia, and our traders make them 6/5 to begin with a win. Iran aren’t out of it though at 14/5, with the draw 19/10.

Morocco’s Ayoub El Kaabi, who scored nine times for the Atlas Lions in qualification, is 5/1 joint-favourite to open the scoring in Saint Petersburg.

Egypt will be looking to Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun. The forward hit 11 goals in qualifying and is 11/2 to score first.
