French Open second round: Swiss stars Federer and Wawrinka in action

It wasn’t exactly the most comfortable of first round matches for Roger Federer in Paris at the French Open, despite beating Colombian opponent Alejandro Falla in three sets.
A security lapse at Roland Garros, saw a group of young fans run onto the court for a ‘selfie’ with the tennis star, something which the player himself was less than happy about.
“I am not happy about it. It happened yesterday in the practice, too. It’s just a kid, but then three more kids came,” Federer said.
“And today on centre court where you would think this is a place where nobody can come on, just wanders on and nothing happens.
“Something needs to happen quickly. Normally I only speak on behalf of myself, but in this situation I think I can speak on behalf of all the players, that that’s where you do your job, that’s where you want to feel safe,” he continued.
“And so clearly I’m not happy about it. But nothing happened, so I’m relieved. But clearly it wasn’t a nice situation to be in.”
Federer takes on Marcel Granollers in the second round, and is heavily odds-on at 1/33 with Coral to get past his Spanish opponent, who beat German Matthias Bachinger in the first round, after a narrow third set tie break.
Compatriot Stan Wawrinka, meanwhile, is odds-on at 1/10 to win his second round match, as he takes on Dusan Lajovic.
Federer’s Davis Cup partner has had problems of his own since the tournament started. After a report surfaced on the tournament’s official website, which accused the player of leaving his wife and young daughter to fend for themselves, Wawrinka was less than happy.
“It’s the official website of a grand slam, so I hope the guy who did that article is not a journalist,” Wawrinka said.
“I also hope the guy who is supposed to check all the articles on the website is not working anymore for the tournament because, for me, for a grand slam website, it should be an article about the tennis and that’s it.”
Elsewhere, in the second round games of the ladies French Open, the highlights include last year’s beaten finalist Simona Halep odds-on at 1/25 to beat German Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, while Ana Ivanovic is odds-on at 1/12 to get past Misaki Doi.
