Will 52 years of hurt come to an end this summer? Coral’s latest odds suggest there’s a real chance England will go all the way in the World Cup.
Gareth Southgate’s side are now just 5/1 to win the final in Moscow. They’re only behind Brazil and France (both 7/2) and level with Croatia.
The draw has really opened up for the Three Lions. They can’t face any of Brazil, France or Belgium until the final.
England are 11/10 to beat Colombia in tomorrow’s second-round clash. If they win, they’ll face either Sweden or Switzerland in the quarter-finals, with Croatia or Russia waiting in the semis.
“Following Spain’s defeat to Russia on Sunday, England were cut to 5-1 to win the World Cup, the shortest odds they have ever been at this stage of the tournament. It’s not just the heatwave making the bookies sweat this summer, as a victory for England would spark the biggest ever payout to patriotic punters, running into tens of millions across the industry,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“The match against Colombia will be the biggest of the tournament so far in terms of betting turnover, with upwards of £25 million riding on it. If England do knock-out the South Americans, they will be close to being World Cup favourites,” added Stevens.
