Preview and odds for Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier

Wales continue their World Cup qualifying campaign on Wednesday night and we have looked at the odds find some Wales v Estonia betting tips.

Estonia are the Group E whipping boys, having lost all three qualifying games to date and have conceded 15 goals in the process, while Wales need to win to keep up pressure on the Czech Republic and leaders Belgium.

Wednesday’s match, which takes place in Cardiff, kicks off at 7.45pm.

Wales v Estonia match odds

After a daunting 4,000-mile round trip to face Belarus last weekend, Wales are back in Cardiff and are heavy favourites at 2/11 to defeat Estonia.

Wales have six points from three games following their 3-2 win over Belarus, a game played at a neutral venue behind closed doors in Kazan.

With Belgium beating the Czech Republic 3-0 on Sunday, the way is open for Wales to jump into second place, as the Czechs have seven points from five games and Wales have two games in hand on both the Czechs and Belgium, who top the group with 13 points.

A hat-trick from Gareth Bale gave Wales the win over Belarus, while Estonia went down 5-2 at home to Belgium on Thursday despite taking the lead in the second minute.

They sit bottom of the group, having conceded 15 goals in their three games thus far, although they have managed six goals themselves in those three games.

Estonia started their campaign with a 6-2 home defeat by the Czech Republic, followed by a 4-2 loss at Belarus, and are 20/1 for a shock win in Cardiff.

They have drawn three of their last 12 internationals, following Sunday’s 1-0 friendly defeat at home to Northern Ireland. The draw is on offer at 11/2.

Wales v Estonia head-to-head

Wales and Estonia have met twice before, with Wales winning both clashes. Neither was a competitive fixture, with Wales securing friendly wins in Tallin in May 1994 (2-1) and at home (1-0) in May 2009.

Estonia have scored in six of their last eight internationals, only drawing a blank against Sweden and Northern Ireland, so a home win and both teams to score at 13/5 is an option for Wales v Estonia betting tips.

Wales have failed to score in five of their last eight internationals though and it is 9/1 that Estonia keep a clean sheet.

Wales v Estonia team news

David Brooks, Brandon Cooper, Ethan Ampadu and Tyler Roberts missed Wales’ clash with Belarus because of visa issues.

They could be recalled against Estonia, but Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey is injured and Stoke goalkeeper Adam Davies is sidelined after testing positive for Covid-19.

Liverpool left-back Neco Williams, Tottenham defender Joe Rodon and QPR midfielder George Thomas have also withdrawn from caretaker manager Rob Page’s squad through injury.

Wales v Estonia key battles

Having beaten the Czech Republic 1-0 at home in March and then getting through the group phase at Euro 2020 before succumbing to semi-finalists Denmark, Wales will fancy their chances of taking maximum points.

With Belgium controlling the group, Wales’ clash against the Czechs in Prague next month will be pivotal to their chances of qualification but they must also get the job done against Estonia and Belarus.

The Czech Republic have a plus-one goal difference over Wales, who will look to Bale, Daniel James and Kieffer Moore to address that imbalance.

Bale is 8/15 to score at any time, while James is 2/1 in the same market as the last of our Wales v Estonia betting tips.
