Preview and odds for Thursday’s Europa Conference League clash

Antonio Conte takes charge of Spurs for the first time on Thursday night and we look at some potential Tottenham v Vitesse betting tips.

Spurs lost their fifth game of the season in the Premier League on Sunday, which cost manager Nuno Espirito Santo his job, while Vitesse Arnhem will hope to continue their good form after winning three of their last four in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Thursday’s match, which takes place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, kicks off at 8pm and is live on BT Sport 1.

Tottenham v Vitesse match odds

Tottenham decided to rest several of their big names when the sides met on Europa Conference League matchday three in Arnhem, as they wanted them fresh ahead of their Premier League game at West Ham the following Sunday.

The plan backfired as Tottenham slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Vitesse and, with a full-strength side, were subsequently beaten by the Hammers at the London Stadium.

The result leaves Tottenham in third place in Group G with four points, having been held to a 2-2 draw at Rennes on matchday one before beating Mura 5-1 on matchday two.

Tottenham enter this clash on the back of a 3-0 home defeat by Manchester United on Saturday and Nuno was consequently sacked after just 10 league games in charge, with former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Conte quickly appointed as his successor.

Spurs are 6/1 second favourites behind Roma to win the Europa Conference League and are 2/7 to defeat Vitesse in the reverse fixture.

Vitesse will try to become the third Dutch team – after Ajax and PSV – to win at Tottenham in a competitive game in all European competitions.

They enter this clash on the back of Saturday’s 2-1 win at Heerenveen. It was a sixth domestic win and leaves them fifth in the Eredivisie, seven points behind leaders Ajax after 11 games. Vitesse are 9/1 to win, while it is 4/1 that the game ends in a draw for Tottenham v Vitesse betting tips.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Tottenham v Vitesse betting tips

Tottenham v Vitesse head-to-head

Tottenham may have lost their most recent game but haven’t lost consecutive European group matches since October 2018 when they were defeated by Inter Milan and Barcelona in the Champions League.

Vitesse are undefeated in their last three away games in all European competitions (W2 D1) but have never enjoyed a longer unbeaten run in those competitions. It is 23/10 that the visitors win or draw the game on the Double Chance market.

Tottenham v Vitesse key battles

Spurs have looked very disjointed at times this season. One has to ask if the fall-out from Harry Kane’s failed want-away bid to join Manchester City has affected him and the rest of the team.

Either way, the England captain is not scoring regularly enough for a team that relies heavily upon him. He is 3/4 to score at any time on Thursday and 14/1 to score a hat-trick, which would help silence any critics he may have.

Vitesse will certainly not be shy. Their 61 shots is the most of any team in the competition this season, although only 18 of those shots were on target – and it is worth noting that Spurs have conceded three of their four goals from outside the box.

They also have failed to keep a clean sheet in 11 of their last 12 games in all competitions. It is 18/1 that Vitesse win but concede, while the odds for Spurs to win to nil are evens in the Tottenham v Vitesse betting tips.
